The
roots of Color seems to travel all around the trees of history.
These days, it seems that the Chakra Colors have the greatest
influence on our choices.
Chakras
are power zones along our bodies which we use to enrich and enhance
our atunement with the elements. When we learn to open our Chakra
centers, we are opening ourselves to heightened awareness.
A
quick review of Chakra colors and meaning follow. There are many
books discussing using and tuning your Chakras. If this interests
you, find the books and study them.
The
base of the spine is the Lumbar Chakra, which is tuned with red.
This is the only Chakra that moves in two directions, which can
ground as well as swell. Its associations are physical existence,
physical creativity and survival. Its associated with reproduction
and sexual energy. Fear and lack of energy manifest when this Chakra
is weak.
Up
the spine is the Spleen Chakra, tuned with orange. Associated with
the transformation of lower vibration energy into higher types of
energy. Blocked, the ability for balance is effected.
Further
up the spine is the Solar Plexus Chakra, tuned with yellow. This is
raw emotion, anger and frustration, basic gut feelings. Blockage
causes uncontrolled emotion and inability to tap the intuition. This
center is extremely sensitive to the emotions of others.
Traveling
ever upwards, the Heart Chakra is tuned with green. It symbolizes
unconditional spiritual love, compassion and empathy. Blocked it is
self hatred, distrust of others and no understanding of the oneness
of all creation. Disruption causes an unbalance between the cold
intellect and the physical drives.
Next
is the Throat Chakra, tuned with electric blue. It is the seat of
communication, balance of powers positive and negative, creativity,
psychic hearing, creativity of an abstract nature (arts, science,
literature, music). Imbalance produces sharpness of tongue, closed
mind to new or unusual ideas and self-righteousness.
In
the center of the brow is the third eye tuned with Indigo. This
gateway affects clear seeing and psychic perception in all forms.
At
the crown of the head is the alternate center, the point of opening,
the point that connects us to the God and the Goddess. The Hindu call
it the "Lotus of Thousand Petals" as it opens in a similar
manner. This center synchronizes all the others, integrates all
polarities and is all pervading in power. It tunes on lavender
shading into brilliant white.

Color
plays an important part in our work. It guides our work, helps us to
center and focus on our goals. All things are used as tools, they
contain no power of their own, only that which we ourselves generate.
We use these tools to focus, or to store those energies.
